What I fix

Two specialties, each with its own list. If a job is not mine to take, you hear that before I start, not after you have been billed for the attempt.

Air conditioning and heating

Repair, maintenance and diagnostics.

  • An air conditioning condenser installed beside a home

    A/C repair

Not cooling, leaking, making a noise it never made, or shutting itself off. I find out what it is and tell you what the fix costs.

    from $120

  • A condenser coil covered in dirt before cleaning

    Maintenance

Filters, coil and drain line before July gets here. This is the visit that prevents the emergency call.

    from $89

  • An air handler installed in a closet, with the copper lines exposed

    Diagnostics

Leaks, refrigerant charge, pressures and thermostat. Measured with gauges, not guessed at.

    $50 diagnostic

  • A clean coil inside the plenum, seen from below in the attic

    Heating

Inspection and repair before the first freeze. In Houston it arrives all at once.

    from $110

Residential electrical

Light residential work.

  • A five-blade wooden ceiling fan mounted under exposed beams

    Outlets & lights

Dead outlets, switches, light fixtures and ceiling fans.

    from $95

  • Electrical wiring inside a breaker box

    Panel & breakers

Breakers that keep tripping, lights that flicker. I find the cause instead of covering it up.

    from $95

How I work

I do the job right the first time.
  • I check the equipment

I come out, go through it with gauges and tell you exactly what is wrong. No guessing over the phone or off a photo.

  • Whether the job is mine

If it is my kind of job, I say so. If it is not, you hear that too, instead of me trying anyway and billing you for it.

  • The price, firm

A firm price before I start. No surprise at the end, no charges that show up once the unit is already apart.

Why I work this way

These days people care more about the profit than the quality of the work.

The owner, word for word

The work I do has to hold up through next summer, not make it to the end of the month. You can spot a rushed fix by the first August.

Before and after, on the same pad

The unit that sat there had been losing to rust for years: the coil black with grime and the side panel pulled off and left on the ground. Drag the divider and you get the same pad with the new equipment already set.

Condenser replacement

  • Old rust-eaten unit hauled out
  • New condenser set on the same pad
  • No scrap or panels left behind on site

1 / 6

I call you before every season.

On the equipment I install. Before the heat sets in and before the cold does, I come by and go through it. You do not have to keep track: I am the one who calls.

Before summer
I go through the A/C and tell you what is going to give you trouble in August.
Before winter
I check the heating before the first freeze.

Three years from the day of the install. No charge.

No surprises

The price, up front

I do not quote over the phone without seeing the equipment, because a number invented on the phone turns into a different number at the end. You pay for the diagnostic, I tell you what the work costs, and the call is yours.

Questions

If it is not here, call and I will answer it myself.

  • The on-site diagnostic is $50. That covers coming out, going through the equipment and telling you with certainty what is wrong. If you then hire me for the job, that $50 comes off the total. I do not give estimates over the phone without seeing it.

  • Monday through Friday I take calls at any hour, day or night. Saturdays I take work until 4:00 PM; after that, and all day Sunday, I only come out for emergencies. Call the number, and if I am on another job I call you back as soon as I finish.

  • Houston and the surrounding area: Katy, Sugar Land, Pasadena, Cypress, Spring, Humble, Missouri City, The Woodlands, Angleton, Lake Jackson, Galveston and Bay City. Past 20 miles there is a trip charge, and I tell you what it is before I leave.

  • Cash, Zelle, card or check. Whatever is easiest for you.

  • English and Spanish both, and I explain what is wrong with the equipment in whichever one you prefer.

  • Depends where you are and how the day is running. When you call I give you a real time, not a "on my way".

How we start

It starts with a call

An emergency tonight or a check-up that can wait until next week — it starts the same way: you call, and I am the one who answers. I tell you whether the job is mine and when I can come by. If you cannot talk, text me instead.
